Those who have seen the Cécile Verny Quartet on stage in the past two years maybe also had the occasion to listen to the atmospheric ballad “Petite Armoire” that Cécile dedicated to her small cabinet where she stores all the souvenirs she had brought from her journeys.
She likes to take them out from time to time and to think back to the times and places from where she had got them.

A studio version of the song is now available, but only as a music download on the internet at the following address:

“Rencontres musicales” in Kampala (Dez 05)

for those who do not know where Uganda is ……

check the map!

At the beginning of December the CVQ was invited to travel to Uganda by the Alliance Française and the German Embassy in Kampala. The trip was sponsored by the “Ugandan German Cultural Society” in Kampala and the Belgian Airline SN. Thank you very much!
The week started with a workshop with Ugandan  High School Students and students of the International School Kampala in the National Theatre.
Then the band met some Ugandan Musicians for a “rencontre musical” where they all played together the quartet’s music as well as some pieces written by their Ugandan colleagues. This was a great experience for all of them.
A concert in front of an audience of 600 people was the highlight of the trip to Uganda. The band played in a breathtaking African scenery together with the Ugandan “Baximba Waves” as their curtain raisers. When the Ugandan musicians returned on stage in order to play the last three pieces with the CVQ, the audience entered the stage, applauding and dancing.

After the concert the band went on safari for two days in the Queen Elizabeth National Park.
